What a week! Monday was the beginning of the school year for us. First grade promises to be busier than ever and I don’t know how much time I am going to have to teach Junior to sew this year. In the first pic, you will see her beginning to handle a needle with some 2 1/2″ squares. Such intensity! But she loves the sewing box Grandpa made just for her and she is as much in love with fabric as I am. For some reason quilt shop owners shower her with fabrics and she has quite a collection going.

Learning to sew

Because we commute to school everyday and I’m very active at the school, I didn’t have much time for sewing this week. Last weekend I managed to finish another IQBS block that will be going to sweet Luciana in Tenerife, Spain. I love the soft greens in this block! So here is my Friday Finish.
Lucianas blockAnd since it’s Friday, it’s time for the Weekend Challenge. It’s also Labor Day weekend, which gives you another day to sew. Do you have plans to finish a WIP (Work IN Progess), dig a PIG out of storage (Project In Bag), or with the long weekend are you going on a FART (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip)?

I will be helping a good friend on Saturday with her 100 Quilts for 100 Kids project in Austin. I hope to get some good pictures, to show y’all what we’re doing. On Sunday, I will be sewing blocks for our Farmer’s Wife Pony Club Swap. I am so excited about this swap and the blocks that I have seen posted in our Facebook group have just been a teaser. They are amazing. We are making them out of 1930’s reproductions and I am thrilled because those are currently my favorite quilting medium. If you aren’t familiar with the Farmer’s Wife Samplers, the books are located at Amazon.
